Thanks for all of your comments. The stump in this image is actually a decent size tree. The scissors would never be that large next to the tree or be able to cut it in real life. Guess my playing with scale didn’t work as well on this one. It must be too easy to accept the tree as being a smaller shrub without any other clues to its scale. As for some kind of meaning, the tree with no leaves could be saying something about life or lifelessness and the hand cutting it asks questions about who is doing this and why. Of course I intentionally left it mostly open-ended so that it can speak more personally to different people.
